Gericke is Branch Chief for the Data Science Branch in the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.

Gericke Cook is Chief for the Data Science Branch of the Integrated Information Dissemination Division and manages the strategic vision and delivery of four data science capabilities: reproducible data assembly, data visualization, data analytics, and predictive modeling. Gericke is passionate about sharing our tools, expertise, and work culture with the broader USGS community. Our mission statement is to support science for a changing world by applying innovative, data-driven methods to advance water research, insights, and communication. We serve the Water Mission Area, USGS, and the general public by prioritizing reproducibility, accessibility, and open science.

Prior to USGS, Gericke worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to build predictive models of entry, spread, and establishment for invasive agricultural pests and diseases. Her skills include machine learning, risk assessment, geographic information systems (GIS), phenology, biogeochemical cycles, ecosystem science, and open science software computing.
